Rev. Winsome Wu, Ph.D.
Winsome Wu is the co-founder and Lead Pastor of The Journey: Bay Area Christian Fellowship. Prior to this, he served as the Interim Executive Pastor at Cerritos Baptist Church in the areas of staff development, strategic planning, and church planting; and as an Associate Pastor at Christian Layman Church in the areas of preaching, mentoring staff, developing HR and personnel policies, and equipping church members for evangelism, missions, and church planting.
He is also the co-founder and Executive Director of the Asian American Leadership Center, a 501(c)(3) ministry consulting and missionary sending organization. Winsome works with other AALC team members to coach emerging and entrepreneurial leaders in starting new churches and ministries, and to equip existing church and parachurch leaders through ministry, financial, and organizational consulting.
Since entering vocational ministry in 1996, he has started, served, or consulted with over a dozen Asian American churches and ministry organizations including the Epic Movement (Cru), Asian American Christian Fellowship (AACF), Southeast Asian Catalyst (SEAC), and Institute for the Study of Asian American Christianity (ISAAC).
He graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a B.S. in Business Administration and worked several years as a financial analyst in the banking and software industries. He graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary with a M.Div. and a M.A. in Intercultural Studies, and from Fuller Theological Seminary with a Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies. His doctoral studies were in the fields of cross-cultural and organizational leadership, and his dissertation examined the impact of acculturation on the leadership qualities that people see and expect to see in the pastoral leaders of Asian American churches.
Winsome views life with the Holy Spirit as one exciting adventure, and in the coming years, he hopes to write a Christian leadership handbook, a number of Christian devotional books, and maybe even a fiction novel or two. For recreation, he enjoys reading, watching movies, talking with friends, and finding bargain food deals. To find out more about Winsome Wu, visit www.winsomewu.org.
