Rev. Russell Yee, Ph.D.

The Rev. Russell Yee, Ph.D. is the author of Worship on the Way: Exploring Asian North American Christian Experience (Judson Press, 2012), which remains the only book-length treatment of Asian North American Christian worship. He teaches for Fuller Theological Seminary online and at its extension sites, and has been an adjunct professor at numerous other seminaries. He’s a graduate of U.C. Berkeley, Dallas Theological Seminary, and the Graduate Theological Union. A third-generation Oakland native, he still lives there with his wife, Lisa, while their two daughters are away at college. They worship and serve at New Hope Covenant Church in Oakland (Evangelical Covenant), which focuses on incarnational inner-city ministry.  For ten years he pastored New Life Christian Fellowship in Castro Valley, California and was on the pastoral staff of New Hope for three years. He has also had several articles published on Oakland history, is a docent at the Oakland Museum of California, and teaches a popular class on Oakland at St. Mary’s College.
